A Future Warrior?

There are rumors that Golden State might be going after Dirk Nowitzki and/or Kevin Durant. Now I don’t mind Nowitzki going to Golden State because he is a little bit older and his style of play works well with them, but Durant going to GS would just make them another All Star team just like the Miami Heat were when Lebron was there. Haven’t we learned anything from those seasons? It’s not fun to watch. Sure, the Heat had a bunch of highlights every game, but the games as a whole were not fun to watch. This last NBA Finals were good because the teams were evenly matched. The best games of the Jordan era, Kobe era or Lebron era were the ones that were close. No one wants to tune into a full massacre.

I haven’t cared about basketball for a while now. Because the Lakers are so bad that I can’t even watch them as a fan. The games aren’t even close, I waste time watching them lose. This was the first series that I watched from beginning to end that didn’t involve the Lakers. Something about watching Golden State’s record breaking year continue was very intriguing. When they went up 3-1 people tuned in to see if the Cavs would just give up or people tuned in to see Lebron cry. Neither scenario happened. (Well, Lebron cried but those were tears of happiness.) Lebron showed people he could do it without Wade, although the Cavs have Kyrie and Love… He kept his promise of bringing a title to Cleveland and he does so much for Cleveland off the court. I can’t be mad at the guy. Kyrie is my current favorite player to watch, I was excited for him and Curry to face off, but Curry was off in this series sadly, so we didn’t quite see much of that. I believe Curry and GS will be back to proper form next year. Not too many people are mentioning Bogut’s injury and his contribution to the team. I believe if he played he would have made quite a difference. He stops Lebron from driving in and he gives GS the ability to shoot without as much stress knowing that he will get a rebound. Love was getting rebounds no problem once Bogut got injured. I really enjoyed this series.Being able to watch basketball without fear of your team losing was pretty cool.

We will see what happens next year. Maybe GS and the Cavs will meet again in the finals. Maybe things change when Kevin Durant goes to another team to create another super team. If he goes to the Spurs they will be scary. Maybe the Lakers can make some good moves now that Kobe is gone. We will see…

Ain’t nobody got time for that

This is the Vanderhall Laguna. This trike is powered by a 1.4 liter turbo Chevy Sonic motor and it sells for $75,000. It is one of the better looking trikes that I’ve seen. It has a vintage feel to it while still looking futuristic at the same time. My question is why did they use that motor? It looks like it would be a really fast trike but it isn’t, because the manufacturer said it was made for “cruising”. Which is fine, but who would pay $75,000 for this kind of ride? With that price tag you could get a CRX with a K20 motor that runs 10s. Or you could get a beautiful wide body MR2 that runs 11s. If a Japanese car isn’t your style, you could build a VW Bug that runs low 9s. You could even buy a new Z06 Corvette for a few thousand more. For $66,000 you could get a Porsche 718 Cayman S. There are so many options out there depending on your taste. So why on Earth would someone want to buy this? Maybe a hardcore collector would buy it? Perhaps a super rich guy that has money to blow on spur of the moment purchases? I can’t imagine a real car/motorcycle enthusiast spending that money on this. With that said, if they put in a new motor and made this incredibly fast I think people would buy it. They would still need to lower the price a bit but I think that would entice a few more buyers.

P.S.

I also think that they should change the rims for these two particular color schemes. The rims are a bit boring and they don’t match the look of the trike.

I’m glad that the UK B-Boy Championships still plays hip hop tracks, most battle organizations play only breaks which can kind of get repetitive at times. I feel like the b-boys dance with more energy at this event because of the musical variety. This is a classic battle. I’m happy that the All Stars are dancing more as a crew rather than as individuals. It seems like they enjoy battling together now.

Uber vs the NYC Taxi

At one point and time taxi service was king. They could do no wrong. These companies hired people with horrible attitudes, they probably treated their employees like shit and they never felt they needed to evolve. Now fast forward to the era of Uber and Lyft and they are slowly dying.

Curry 2.5 – Black Taxi

Nike historically has always had the best designed basketball shoes, but with Adidas hiring a couple of former Nike designers and other companies such as Under Armour stepping up their shoe designs as well, we now have a good amount of basketball shoe options to wear. More competition is good for us consumers. We will see better designed shoes across the board from all companies and hopefully Nike will stop releasing bullshit due to the threat of increased competition.

Sorry for the lack of content recently. I’ve been having issues with my categories. They are not updating they way they should be. Once I get that resolved I will be back with daily content. I will even start posting my new drawings.

Thanks,

B-Boy Lil G

SMH, WTF, OMG, are all acronyms that could come to mind when you watch a Lil G set for the first time. What makes him a truly special b-boy is his musicality. Anyone that is a fan of the scene can easily mention 10 great power move b-boys. But how many of those mentioned are as well rounded as Lil G? Not many. Some of the best power b-boys have no musicality. They are too stiff with their top rocks or they don’t even have top rocks. Some of them have a very small arsenal of sets. If you watch enough of their battles you can witness them recycling routines. Lil G is not one of those b-boys. He has top rocks, his transitions are clean and his dance is always to the beat. Even his freezes are to the beat as you can see in the video above.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Dark Necessities

I’m really happy that the Red Hot Chili Peppers went down this path with their music. They are using guitarist Josh Klinghoffer in a good way. I felt like they lost their sound and identity when John Frusciante left. Their 2011 album “I’m With You” was different in a bad way for me. But this new track “Dark Necessities” is beautiful. From the second I heard it on the radio I thought to myself “This is a new song. Who is this? Wow, that base is amazing.” At that point I still didn’t know who’s song this was. The intro rhythm of the bass was light, slowly building up to the main bass line of the song. Then the guitar slowly creeps in with the drums trailing not too far behind it. Then the guitar drops off and the bass line gets super funky out of nowhere. Excitement comes over me and I think “Is this the Chili Peppers? It sounds like something Flea would play. Do they have a new song?” While all these questions are buzzing around in my head a piano comes into the mix and I hear Anthony Kiedis’ voice. I smile and think “It is them…” as I nod my head to the song.

The song is fucking perfect. It is different from their other radio hits but in a good way. My drive through heavy traffic was made better for  approximately five minutes and two seconds.
