Unlimited First Class Air Travel for Life

In the 1980s, American Airlines needed money, so they decided to start selling passes for unlimited first-class air travel for life. At the time the passes sold for $250,000 (around $600,000 right now). Mark Cuban bought one of these tickets when he sold his first company, (MicroSolutions) for $6 million. In 1994 American Airlines stopped selling the passes, but they did offer it again in 2004 for $3 million dollars each. None of them sold.

TIL – Brazil’s Capitals

Today I learned that Brazil has had three capitals. First was Salvador (1549-1763), second was Rio de Janeiro (1763-1960), third and current capital is Brasilia (1960-current).

Today I Learned that the word “Scaramouche” from Queen’s song, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is a stock clown character from the commedia dell’arte (comic theatrical arts of Italian literature.) The role combines characteristics of the zanni (servant) and the capitano (masked henchmen). Usually attired in black Spanish dress he was often beaten by Harlequin for his boasting and cowardice.
